Hello and welcome to How I Live My Life. My name is Lee Beaumont, I’m 24 years of age and I reside in the city of Leeds, in the UK, and this is my website.
With gas, electricity, water and pretty much all household bills increasing month on month, I’ve decided to cut down on what I use; not for the environment, but for me. I’m doing something drastic to save massive amounts of money.
At 8.00am on 6th February 2013, I had a visit from British Gas, who came to give my boiler it’s yearly service; unfortunately it failed, and they told me that even though the boiler was only four years old, it had came to the end of it’s life. They shut down the boiler, and I was left with no boiler or gas.
As a money saver, with websites such as LeeBeaumont.com and FindThatCompany.co.uk, I didn’t want to cough up the £800 boiler fee and a £200 installation cost, and so I decided to try and live for one full year without using a boiler or gas.
I understood I would need to change the way I do things, as I could no longer put the heating on, put the gas cooker on, shower or take baths, even wash up with hot water.
Will it be easy? Will it be hard? I have no idea, but this blog will be updated pretty much every evening with what I have done that day, and hopefully you will find it useful and you too can save some money with my little tricks and tips.
